Engadin Scuol, Samnaun, Val Müstair

The Lower Engadin with the town of Scuol at its centre and its Engadin Bad Scuol spa as well as the Münster Valley (Val Müstair) on the Italian border is the home of the only national park in Switzerland. Many villages such as Ardez, Ftan or Sent have the typical Engadin houses with sgraffito work. Indeed, the village of Guarda was awarded the Wakker Prize in 1995 and is also the home of "Schellen-Ursli", from the famous children’s book illustrated by Graubünden artist Alois Carigiet.

Duty-free status is enjoyed at the eastern tip of the canton by the holiday destination of Samnaun, which – like the whole of Lower Engadin – has been more quickly and easily accessible from Klosters in the Prättigau area in winter since the opening of the Vereina tunnel at the end of 1999.
