The cross-country ski regions


Each of these five areas provides a network of runs of between 52 and 180 km. The diverse topography produces trails with ups and downs, flat trails and trails with panoramic views.

Tip: a smaller cross-country skiing area


Splügen at 1500 metres has 40 km of cross-country skiing trails, for classic and skating. The start of the trails is at the campground, where you will also find a "cross-country centre" with cloakroom, showers, toilets, a newssstand and a waxing facility. The Splügen/Rheinwald cross-country area has received the Swiss Tourism Quality Seal class 1. So skiing enthusiasts can look forward to the best of conditions.

Engadin Ski Marathon


Switzerland’s most popular national cross-country ski race goes from Maloja to Schanf in the Engadine and has always been held on the second Sunday in March since 1969.

Cross-country skiing in Graubünden


With its sweeping high valleys, Graubünden is an ideal region for cross-country skiing. You will find an overview of the major cross-country skiing areas and additional useful information here.

Cross-country skiing information


The preparation of modern cross-country skiing trails is very labour and time intensive, costing around CHF 3,000 per kilometre and season. You will therefore need the official Swiss cross-country pass to use the cross-country trails.

 

This is available as a season pass for the whole of Switzerland or as a weekly or day ticket. Different regions also offer a regional season pass.

  • Cross-country pass Switzerland CHF 100.-
  • Weekly ticket Switzerland CHF 35.-
  • Day ticket Switzerland CHF 7.-
  • Children up to 16 years free of charge


The cross-country pass, and the weekly and day tickets Switzerland are valid throughout Switzerland and can be obtained in cross-country centres or tourism organisations in the regions where there are trails.
